Completely convincing, effortlessly playable

Designed to the exacting specifications of Grammy and BAFTA-nominated composer Benjamin Wallfisch [Alien: RomulusBlade Runner 2024, IT, The Flash], Benjamin Wallfisch Strings and Stringscapes by Benjamin Wallfisch set a new standard for Orchestral Tools in terms of realism, detail, and playability. Enthusiastic feedback from the composer community to add even more to the collection drove Wallfisch and Orchestral Tools back to the Teldex Scoring Stage in Berlin to add a completely new set of short note articulations to the divisi sections of the string orchestra. “The initial release of the collection was very well received, and user enthusiasm encouraged us to delve even further into what was possible,” said Orchestral Tools CEO Hendrik Schwarzer. “People clearly wanted to have short notes in the divisi sections as well as in the tutti sections. So after consulting with Ben, we went back to Teldex and recorded them.”

The new update adds multiple short note articulations to each of the divisi sections. Each A and B divisi section of each instrument group—Violins 1, Violins 2, Violas, Celli, and Basses—gets 5 new articulations: Staccato, marcato, spiccato, pizzicato, and ornaments. These new articulations offer the same peerless level of detail and playability as those in the tutti sections, as well as the same number of dynamic layers and round robins. The result is 100% consistency across the entire collection making the Benjamin Wallfisch Strings and Stringscapes by Benjamin Wallfisch collections even more versatile and playable than ever before.

“We were completely blown away by the positive feedback we got from the composer community on the initial release of Benjamin Wallfisch Strings,” said Wallfisch. “However, I knew we could achieve more. The team at Orchestral Tools was completely committed to adding even more articulations and detail to this collection to make it the best it could possibly be. What we have now is, I believe, the most realistic string library ever created and an invaluable tool that will power the next generation of Hollywood composers.”
